Several Bollywood filmmakers previously attempted grand Ramayana adaptations which never reached theaters. Sohail Khan’s project with Salman Khan and Sonali Bendre was partially shot. Rajkumar Santoshi’s ambitious cast and Sanjay Khan’s film with Hrithik Roshan also faced hurdles. Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, conceptualized around 2015, faced delays and producer changes. This epic adaptation, now backed by Namit Malhotra, stars Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi.
