A total of 10 women’s teams will compete for the gold medal. India won the bronze medal in the women’s hockey event at the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. They defeated Japan 2-1 in the bronze-medal match. The Asian Games 2026 hockey tournament will also serve as the Asian qualifiers for the 2028 Summer Olympics. The gold-medal winner will qualify directly for the 2028 Olympics, while the next four women’s teams will get a chance to compete in the 2028 Olympic Qualifiers.
