India’s 2,843-km Dedicated Freight Corridor network is now fully operational. The project separates freight traffic from passenger services, helping to ease congestion and improve overall railway capacity. Freight trains can now operate at higher speeds, with average speeds exceeding 50 kmph. The DFC also strengthens connectivity between industrial centres, ports and markets, with the potential to reduce logistics costs and improve economic efficiency.
