The Department of Telecom has begun the process of dissolving the Digital Communication Commission, formerly the Telecom Commission, after seeking Cabinet approval. The apex inter-ministerial body, formed in 1989, handled key policy and financial decisions including spectrum pricing and TRAI recommendations. Vacant posts will not be filled, officials said.
