Recent archaeological discoveries in Juukan Gorge have shed light on the ancient habitat of Tasmanian devils in the Pilbara region. Analysis of two dental samples places their existence during the Late Pleistocene and Holocene ages. The findings also reveal long-standing interactions with humans evidenced by chewed bones, suggesting that these devils vanished from mainland Australia around 3,200 years ago due to competition with dingoes and shifts in human hunting behavior.
