Sharib Hashmi was initially offered a small role in Haiwaan, but months of silence made him assume it fell through. Casting director Amarbir Bajwa later called with a bigger cop role instead. Hashmi also recalled Priyadarshan suggesting a bolder moustache for his look. Haiwaan, starring Saif Ali Khan and Akshay Kumar, releases September 11.
