Savitribai and Jyotirao Phule established an extensive educational network beyond their initial girls’ school. They founded trusts for the education of Mahar and Mang communities. These efforts included eighteen schools open to children of all castes. Their curriculum taught mathematics and sciences, which was quite different. This work expanded access to education for many excluded groups.
