Rishabh Das falls short in 100m backstroke, sets sights on 50m as India chase first Swimming medal since 2014

Rishabh Das finished sixth in the men’s 100m backstroke final at the Asian Games 2026, clocking 54.77 seconds as China’s Jiayu Xu won gold. Das had qualified fifth overall from the heats and will return to action in the 50m backstroke and men’s 4x100m medley relay. India continue their pursuit of a first Asian Games swimming medal since Sandeep Sejwal’s bronze in 2014.
