An international research team has unveiled a new crocodile species, Herugavialis cairensis, through a study of fossils first discovered in the 1920s. Employing advanced technology and CT scans, they reevaluated these relics. Interestingly, this species shares a connection with the limestone of the Great Sphinx. While the Nile crocodile is the sole surviving species in Egypt, global threats such as poaching and habitat destruction continue to jeopardize crocodile populations.
