Supreme Court has asked the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities to participate in framing a policy for railway travel concessions for acid attack survivors who need frequent trips to specialised hospitals. The Centre has agreed in principle to provide the concession and proposed including eligible survivors under the existing ‘patient category’. The court will consider the matter further after the draft policy is placed on record.
