Punnamada Panthers win both titles as Vallam Vali puts a ‘tug of oars’ spin on Kerala’s boat racing tradition

Punnamada Panthers won both titles at the second season of Red Bull Vallam Vali in Gothuruth, Kerala, where traditional boat racing was given a tug-of-war twist. The event featured two disciplines — Chundan Vallam Row Off, involving 85-man snake boats, and Iruttukuthy Vallam Row Off, with 27 rowers on each side. Punnamada Panthers beat Vembanad Vikings in both finals at the Periyar River venue.
