A new 0.4% fee will apply to person-to-merchant UPI transactions exceeding two thousand rupees. This charge, known as Merchant Discount Rate, begins on October fifteenth, twenty twenty-six. Person-to-person UPI transactions will continue to remain completely free for all users. Small merchants receiving up to one lakh rupees monthly will also enjoy zero MDR. Most merchant transactions will remain unaffected by these new provisions.
