Jordan Hawkins’ four seasons in New Orleans came to a close Tuesday as the Pelicans sent him, Micah Peavy and draft compensation to Memphis for AJ Johnson and Taj Gibson. The move frees up room for Bennedict Mathurin’s extension while handing the Grizzlies another shooter to develop inside their long-term rebuild. Once a UConn tournament hero, Hawkins now gets a fresh start with a team that has the patience and draft capital to wait for his shot to find its old rhythm again.
