A 25-year-old police constable allegedly died by suicide on Sunday. Ashish Verma, a native of Agra district, shot himself with his service rifle while on duty. Fellow policemen heard the gunshot and rushed to the spot after the incident. Verma was taken to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him dead. Preliminary inquiry suggests mental stress or depression may have prompted the constable’s extreme step.
