Christa Barfield left healthcare after a 2018 trip to Martinique inspired her to become a farmer. She now runs FarmerJawn Agriculture, a 128-acre Black-owned farm in West Chester, Pennsylvania, and employs 26 people. Her operation also has urban and suburban locations, with CornerJawn, a food and medicine store in Kensington, scheduled to open on October 1.
