M. R. Poovamma has won four Asian Games medals, all coming in the 2014 and 2018 editions. She won bronze in the individual 400m at the 2014 Incheon Games and then helped India win gold in the women’s 4x400m relay at the same Games. At Jakarta-Palembang in 2018, she was part of the gold-medal-winning women’s 4x400m relay team, while India’s mixed 4x400m relay silver was later upgraded to gold following Bahrain’s disqualification. That gave Poovamma a total of three gold and one bronze Asian Games medals.
