Kedarnath Dham generated over 50.30 metric tonnes of waste from April to August in 2026. In comparison, waste figures for previous years were significantly lower, highlighting an alarming trend. Approximately 1.5 million pilgrims visited Kedarnath this year, increasing pressure on waste management systems. The Nagar Panchayat has constructed four landfills in the area to address rising waste levels.
