Longtime San Francisco 49ers radio voice Greg Papa has been laid off by KNBR after surviving a life-threatening 78-day hospitalization caused by leukemia complications. Although he is now cancer-free following a bone marrow transplant, Papa revealed the physical, emotional and financial toll of his battle, saying, “Cancer is unfair.” The veteran broadcaster is now focused on recovery after an accomplished career spanning more than four decades in sports broadcasting.
