India regulator bars former Axis MF dealer for seven years in front-running case

India’s financial watchdog has penalized former Axis Mutual Fund chief dealer Viresh Joshi with a hefty thirty million rupee fine for leaking sensitive trading data. Joshi allegedly collaborated with others to execute a coordinated front-running scheme from 2021 to 2022, utilizing mule accounts and WhatsApp to make illicit profits from fund transactions. As a consequence, the regulator has barred him from participating in securities markets for the next seven years.
