India plans to require two-hour battery storage equivalent to at least 10% of capacity for new government solar and onshore wind projects commissioned after July 1, 2027. The requirement would rise to four hours from July 2029. Draft rules also propose grid-forming inverters to improve grid stability amid renewable expansion.
