Hydropeaking from dam operations has resulted in the significant erosion of riverbeds, negatively impacting fish populations and complicating insect control measures. In response, researchers investigated the potential of artificial reef structures to establish flow refugia for fish. With the help of volunteers, nearly two hundred concrete structures were constructed below Davis Dam, creating calm areas for fish to rest and feed effectively.
