The restoration of levee breaches at Giacomini Ranch has revitalized the tidal wetlands within Point Reyes National Seashore. This project significantly expanded the habitat for the endangered tidewater goby, creating new tidal channels and managing water retention for the fish. As a result, thousands of waterbirds flocked to the area, and native fish communities flourished. Nonetheless, fluctuations in the goby population were observed, with later surveys indicating their absence.
