Pizza on Wheels pioneered mobile kitchens in 1962, baking pizzas in moving trucks. This innovative service used radio dispatch technology adapted from bus communication systems. Customers ordered pizzas which were prepared and baked en route to their homes. Technical challenges and operational difficulties ultimately limited the company’s long-term success. The business gradually disappeared by the end of 1971 after its expansion.
