Recent storms on Nantucket Island caused significant erosion and exposed parts of the Warren Sawyer shipwreck. This schooner, which sank in 1884, was carrying cargo from New Orleans to Boston. State archaeologist David Robinson indicated that previously found pieces are likely from the ship’s lower bow. Ongoing investigations aim to confirm the authenticity of the newly discovered wooden fragments.
