IIT Madras has inaugurated a Rs 3.30-crore construction robotics laboratory on campus in a CSR-funded partnership with Bechtel India Private Limited. Established on September 22, 2026, the lab aims to advance R&D, automation, and advanced construction technologies for infrastructure projects. Led by Prof. T. Asokan and Prof. Koshy Varghese, the initiative provides students and faculty opportunities for joint R&D, prototyping, patents, professional mentorship, and industry internships over a five to ten-year period.
