A Harvard experiment involving 194 undergraduates found that students using a specially designed AI tutor achieved more than twice the learning gains of peers in an active-learning physics classroom. The AI group also completed lessons faster and reported greater engagement and motivation. Published in Scientific Reports in 2025, the study highlights the potential of personalised, self-paced AI instruction. However, researchers cautioned that the findings from two physics lessons do not establish that AI can replace university teaching.
