The cost of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project has nearly doubled to Rs 2.1 lakh crore. The revised estimate was presented to the Cabinet for approval on Tuesday. Delays in land acquisition and the procurement of train sets have contributed to the significant cost escalation. The entire corridor is now expected to be completed by 2030, while a portion of the high-speed rail network is scheduled to become operational in August 2027.
