An Indian national and former SpiceJet pilot was captain of the flydubai flight that made an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia after a reported cockpit confrontation. Smit Machchhar, who joined flydubai in 2022, was injured but reportedly regained control of the Boeing 737 MAX 8 before it landed safely in Tabuk with around 174 passengers onboard.
