Uttarakhand Power Corporation Ltd invoked force majeure, implementing power cuts due to lower hydropower generation. The power cuts varied from 35 minutes to 15 hours across the state. Heavy industries experienced longer outages, particularly on September 21 and 22. Last year’s peak hour generation dropped from 1,094MW to 912MW this year. The average electricity shortfall was reported to be around 170MW during peak hours.
