Cauvery waters opened from Kallanai for irrigation in TN delta region

Cauvery River waters were released from Grand Anicut Barrage on Sunday to support irrigation. These waters will irrigate approximately twelve lakh acres of Samba and Thaladi crops. Water distribution at Grand Anicut will adjust based on Mettur Dam outflows. Karnataka has been releasing water from its Krishna Raja Sagar and Kabini dams. The Mettur Dam currently holds over fifty-five tmcft of water.
