The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has sanctioned eight railway projects exceeding Rs 20,000 crore. With an addition of nearly 1,200 kilometers to the Indian Railways network, these projects will substantially enhance freight capabilities—47 million tonnes from five southern projects and 65 million tonnes from three situated in eastern and central India. These upgrades are crucial steps towards improving transport efficiency and achieving notable reductions in carbon emissions.
