A total of 12 men’s teams will compete for the gold medal. India are the defending champions in the men’s hockey event. The Asian Games 2026 hockey tournament will also serve as the Asian qualifiers for the 2028 Summer Olympics. The gold-medal winner will qualify directly for the 2028 Olympics, while the next five men’s teams will get a chance to compete in the 2028 Olympic Qualifiers.
