The body of 71-year-old Kuki farmer Hemjang Haokip was recovered from a forest in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district. He was allegedly abducted from his field hut, which was later set on fire. Local authorities believe he was tortured and beaten to death based on the condition of his body. Community leaders described the killing as a pre-planned murder and condemned the suspected involvement of NSCN-IM militants.
