An ordinary couple discovered a significant Gold Rush era treasure in their yard. Eight cans containing 1,427 gold coins were unearthed, dating from the 19th century. Experts valued this Saddle Ridge Hoard at over ten million dollars. The original owner’s identity and reasons for burying the coins remain unknown. The couple later sold most of the coins to collectors and kept a few.
