400 years on, Orchha’s Jahangir Mahal runs into Mughal link row

Historians are in disagreement regarding Emperor Jahangir’s potential visit to the palace that bears his name. The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh has proposed renaming it Veer Singh Mahal to honor Bundela ruler Veer Singh Deo, who constructed it in the early 1600s. Traditional narratives suggest that Jahangir stayed there for just one night. Orchha aims for this historic site to achieve official UNESCO World Heritage status.
