Sebi takes up 402 investigation cases in FY26; completes 338

Sebi investigated 402 cases in 2025-26 for securities law violations. Fraudulent and unfair trade practices saw 121 cases taken up for scrutiny. Insider trading and illegal trade practices accounted for 224 investigations initiated. Financial statement fraud also came under regulatory focus with 57 cases. Market intermediaries underwent increased surveillance with over 900 brokers inspected.
