A Telangana consumer commission ordered an insurer to pay a widow Rs 75.31 lakh. The insurance claim was rejected after the borrower died from COVID-19. The insurer failed to prove the deceased deliberately hid his medical history. The commission found the rejection constituted deficiency in service. The insurer must also pay compensation and litigation costs.
