Kolkata Police STF apprehended Asim Mandal, a CPI (Maoist) central committee member. Mandal had evaded law enforcement for over fifteen years across forest belts. He was arrested in Patashpur, Purba Medinipur district, after a long search. The West Bengal BJP leader welcomed the successful apprehension of the Maoist leader. Authorities stated that extremist ideologies will not be tolerated within state borders.
