Bengaluru joined India’s electric telegraph network in 1854, transforming communication speed. A 16-word message between Calcutta and Bengaluru cost ten shillings then. This new technology connected Bengaluru to Madras, Bellary, and Bombay. Later, a line to Mysore was established, expanding the city’s reach. The telegraph service continued for over 150 years until 2013.
