Uber has cut about 3,300 jobs, nearly 10% of its global workforce, and CEO Dara Khosrowshahi says riders could see lower Uber ride prices as a result. At the Goldman Sachs conference, he said savings from the layoffs and falling insurance costs will fund cheaper fares, better selection and growth, even as Waymo robotaxis tighten US competition. The reorganisation also strips out management layers and nearly all remote roles.
