Bengaluru’s Vidhana Soudha was constructed in just four years during the 1950s. Around five thousand prisoners formed a major part of the construction workforce. Chief Minister Kengal Hanumanthaiah envisioned an unmistakably Indian architectural landmark. The building combines Dravidian and Rajasthani architectural elements in its design. This structure remains a prominent reminder of early post-Independence construction projects.
