Before 9/11, families could walk passengers to airport gates; 25 years later a TSA pilot is bringing that back at 13 US airports for PreCheck members

A new TSA pilot programme is allowing eligible TSA PreCheck members to enter airport gate areas without buying a flight ticket. The Gateside by TSA PreCheck programme is being tested at 13 US airports, including Mesa Gateway Airport in Arizona. Visitors must get a single-day pass and complete the same security screening as ticketed travellers.
