South Sioux City, Nebraska, is testing plastic bag pavement on Foundry Road. Approximately two million shredded plastic bags were incorporated into the asphalt mixture. This innovative project aims to repurpose waste material into durable road infrastructure. The experimental pavement is currently carrying traffic under ordinary conditions. This initiative represents Nebraska’s first such road construction experiment.
