Researchers discovered natural defense proteins within rattlesnake blood. These FETUA proteins, derived from Fetuin-A, target venom metalloproteinases effectively. Combinations of these proteins completely neutralized rattlesnake venom in experiments. This natural serum proved more potent than commercial antivenom in comparative tests. These findings suggest a new approach for developing viper antivenoms.
