Bengal Police arrested former Panihati Municipality chairman Somnath Dey in Bengaluru. He was sought for his alleged role in the hurried cremation of a victim. Police registered an FIR based on a complaint filed by the victim’s family. Dey allegedly misused his power to bypass procedures and destroy evidence. He is the third person arrested in connection with this case.
