The Cotswolds in England has about 170 lakes, most of them former gravel pits transformed after extraction ended. At Log House Holidays, 53 hectares of land were restored with 50,000 trees, wildflowers and reeds, creating habitats for birds and wildlife. The estate is now a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest and also hosts holiday cabins.
