In Guam’s Cocos Lagoon, the installation of old tyres intended to create an artificial reef for marine life became an environmental challenge over the past fifty years. Loose tyres risked physical harm and potentially contaminated the surrounding waters. Fortunately, a recent cleanup project successfully removed approximately twenty-two metric tonnes of these tyres, recycling them and addressing this crucial ecological issue in the lagoon.
