Conservation teams successfully removed invasive rats from Bikar Atoll and Jemo Islet. A new sooty tern colony of two thousand birds appeared on Bikar within one year. Thousands of native tree seedlings also emerged across the forest floor after rat removal. This restoration effort allows traditional resources on Jemo to recover for local communities. The project demonstrates successful ecosystem recovery after invasive species eradication.
