Three-time Olympian Jenny Simpson announced she will never run competitively again after surviving a sudden cardiac arrest in June that led to a rare heart disease diagnosis. Simpson collapsed while pacing young runners in North Carolina and was saved by an on-site defibrillator before spending days on life support at Duke University Medical Center. Now recovering in Colorado with a pacemaker, she says she is grateful to be alive and plans to stay focused on her role at Fleet Feet rather than dwell on the sport she has permanently left behind.
