Secret tracking device placed in rare book ends up in Amazon processing facility, destroying books to train AI models is ‘all’ the Vegas warehouse does

A rare book fitted with a hidden Apple AirTag has exposed Amazon’s secret AI training data operation. The tracker travelled from California to a Las Vegas warehouse called LAS8, where a unit known as VGT3 cuts the bindings off books, scans the pages and destroys the originals. Workers say scanning books is all they do. Booksellers worldwide are now refusing suspicious bulk orders.
